Ahavas Yisrael Charity Fund is managed primarily by volunteers and has an annual budget of $2.8 million dollars. Virtually every penny goes to needy Baltimore families and individuals. For more than thirty-nine years, the Rabbi Chaim Nachman Kowalsky Memorial Ahavas Yisrael Charity Fund has fed, clothed, paid the rent, utility bills and medical bills for needy families in an attempt to help them keep their dignity. Some of these families have fallen on hard times due to unemployment, personal and financial struggles, or illness. The goal of Ahavas Yisrael is to help these families get back on their feet by giving them a helping hand during their difficult period. All fundraising is done through this website, community mailings and charity boxes located in retail locations throughout Baltimore.
The Talmud says that supporting the needs of your own city takes precedence over helping charities elsewhere, so please make Ahavas Yisrael a priority in your charitable giving list.
Our purpose is to provide assistance, especially food, to local individuals, young and old, and to families in need...in a dignified, discreet manner.
Outside of minimal operating and project expenses that are necessary to run this charity effectively, we have very few office and administrative expenses. Most of our work is done by volunteers. .92 cents of every dollar goes to the needy.
